Ah yes, the sisterly bath...and fondling.In this painting titled "Gabrielle d'Estrees et une de ses soeurs," by an unknown artist, you can see on the right, Gabrielle d'Estrees, mistress to King Henri IV and her sister (on the left)...in a bath, getting well acquainted with one another.
You can recognize Gabrielle d'Estrees and her status as the King's mistress because she's holding Henri's coronation ring, which was given as a token of his love. I think this was the 16th century equivalent of giving someone your class ring and going steady. I'm sure things escalated quickly between the two of them-whew.
